January 2020
Monthly Yin Yoga Classes at BreatheMoreYoga.com
Most Yoga classes focus on stretching and strengthening muscles through rhythmic movement that contracts, relaxes and strengthening them. Yin Yoga focuses on the deeper connective tissues of the body, especially those located around the joints with an eye to loading those tissues with the body’s weight, without movement over time in order to relax them. The postures are held for 3 – 5 minutes to allow the fascia, ligaments, and tendons to relax and loosen on their own. This process helps rehabilitate the tissues to increase flexibility and ease of movement in the joints and improve the flow of energy through them. This provides for a meditative and mind-clearing practice that helps practitioners learn how to focus on the moment, thus reducing anxiety, tension and stress.
Fridays:
January 3, 5 – 6:15pm

Monthly Restorative Yoga Classes at BreatheMoreYoga.com
Restorative Yoga uses bolsters, blocks and blankets to support and relax the body, slow the breath and promote calm and ease in the mind. Postures are done in a seated or lying position and are generally held from 3 to 10 minutes with gentle stretches in between each posture. Students will be encouraged to modify, shift position or props in order to relax deeper into a posture. The class ends with a guided relaxation and a moment of silence for integration. No prior yoga experience is necessary.
